Kentucky New Year

Day four in my hometown of Louisville, KY. My buddy, Sanders, came in unexpectedly, so I decided to stay a few extra days. Looks like it'll be New Years in the River City!!!

I've been asked to arrive around 2 (if possible).

As usual, I've done the laundry, but haven't packed.

It's a 7 hour drive, which is a hard thing to get into until after the first 100 miles or so.

Tonight I visited with an old friend and did some catching up.

Tonight I recieved an email from an old friend that's in a far away place.
Here's an excerpt that makes me wish I was there:

Out of nowhere this cute girl from Paris asks me if I wanted to go for a swim with her. Of course I said no. Just kidding. So we "swam" together for an hour or so and I snuck up to the ferry boat loaded with tourists and hucked a thorny starfish in the lap of some guy and swam off back into the darkness.

Tonight I talked to an old friend about something new (and was quite entertained).

Tonight I watched VT lose to CAL in a bowl game, which wasn't a good thing (If you ask me, CAL only won due to luck of the clock).

Tonight I came home later than planned, which means I'll most likely leave later than planned (though I tried my best not to pin myself down to any particular time).

Tonight was a good night (with the exception of the Tech game).

Tomorrow might be rough.

Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. . .

Anyone remember this show? It's the Greatest American Hero.

It ran for three seasons beginning in 1981. I remember when I was a kid, this show ranked up their with The Dukes of Hazard. I've recently had the opportunity to watch many of the episodes, and man, what a breath of fresh air!! I had totally forgotten the plot (or it is, quite likely, that I never actually knew the premise: I was three in its first season). Hell, in the first episode you have space aliens, dead FBI Agents, a classroom of juvenile delinquents, and a MAGIC SUIT!! They dont make'em like that anymore. Anyhoo, i've really enjoyed watching the episodes and it's a terrific, entertaining look into the heart of the early eighties. Plus Connie Seleca is freakin' HOT.

An early, early, Christmas

Christmas knocked on my door at 5 AM. . . I went to bed around 2 AM. That's 3 hours for those visions of sugarplums to dance in my head. It felt more like a short break-dance. Santa must've known that it was gonna be a rough one, cause he left me a couple of down pillows and a down comforter under the tree. They were put to use at precisely 7 AM. I believe I've recovered. Now I just gotta chill until the family piles in this afternoon. Time for a little christmas "spirit" and maybe a shower if I dont get too wrapped up in gettin' my ass kicked in MLB Slugfest by a nine-year-old.

I think I heard sleigh bells.

It's 11:28 EST here in the valley. CNN says that Santa is currently flying over Venezuela heading towards the northern hemisphere. However, The Weather Channel claims that Santa and his reindeer are cruisin' over New England heading south. The latter sounds good to me, yet leads me to a suspicion of there being multiple Santas. Lets just hope the Dept. of Homeland Security has a handle on these matters. Perhaps if I stay up just a bit longer old St. Nick and I can chill, have a Sierra Nevada (dont worry, I'm pretty sure the reindeer do most of the driving anyway), eat some fudge, and I can let him in on what I REALLY want for Christmas.

My little brother went to bed at 7 o'clock, so I'm pretty much guaranteed at least a 6 AM wakeup call. Not that I'm bitchin'. It's always exciting to see him open his gifts and keep a close eye on his expressions as he opens the potpourri (don't worry, I wont be using that word often) of boxes, bows, paper and tape that flood the living room. There's always that electricity that's felt Christmas morning. Or perhaps it's the fatigue of late night wrapping, combined with the "high-octane" european-blend coffee that finds itself into the pot on Christmas morning, resulting in a semi-hypnotic, hallucinogenic state, that is only broken by the first turbo-action-radio-controlled-off-road-rocket-hovercraft to smack you in the big toe. Anyway, I'm looking forward to every bit of it, and the earlier it begins, the sooner I can get back to bed with a belly full of coffee and monkey bread. G'night and Merry Christmas.

Whatcha know!? DjBeermug's back on the web. My girlfriend handed me a blog for Christmas so I can air my particular brand of neurosis to the rest of the world. Personally I think that rocks. You should too, 'cause it's gonna be fun. Maybe some of you punks (you all know who you are), that don't ever send emails (yeah, yeah, I know... I'm a punk too), but whom I know spend countless hours doing "research" on the web, can just swing by here, see what's shakin, leave some kind of (no doubt smart-ass) comment, and be on your merry freakin' way. That way, we'll at least know that we're all still alive.
