So I know that the NCAA football season is over and most of you sports fans have turned your attention to hoops and are already jonesing for March madness.  But allow me, if you will, to remind you of how MY teams did this season.

University of Louisville : The 'Ville went 10-1 in it's last season in C-USA, perfect in the conference.  Their only loss came from Miami 38-41 (...ooooo)  This only goes to prove that they were done with that stanky-ass conference.  I think they're ready to step out of their mid-major status and assert themselves as a true player and formidable opponent in NCAA football.  Sure, the move to the Big East ain't gonna be easy, having to switch from opponents like East Carolina and TCU to bigger boys like West Virginia and Pittsburgh, but I have confidence.  Notice I said "bigger" boys, not the "big" boys.  I know that with the loss of Miami and V. Tech this season the Big East isn't exactly a power conference but I think it's  a great step for Louisville to make a move forward.  Especially considering the news that Petrino will stay on as coach, I really can't see why they couldn't pull a Virginia Tech and be the Big East champs next season.  Oh,  did I mention that they set an NCAA record for scoring 50 or more points in 5 straight games.

Virginia Tech: Tech went 10-2 on the season, and came out ACC champs in their inaugural seaon in that conference.   They're heading to the Sugar Bowl to face (gulp) Auburn, but after their showing vs Miami last Saturday, I have confidence.  Randall showed us that he was pretty much the shit and I can't wait to see where he pops up in the NFL.  Best of all, they skunked Virginia after their much hyped a season.  Go Hokies!!

Ouch

The BIO shit I thought I had due tomorrow night was due tonight, so I did it.  In case you're interested it was a Unit Quiz of 50 questions consisting of material from 6 chapters, a mini-exam of 15 questions from our first unit of 4 chapters, and another mini-exam of 15 questions from our second unit of 6 chapters.  All averaged together to produce my final exam grade.  Time consuming? Yes.  Hard? Fairly.  Done? Hell-friggin'-yeah.  Now I just need to study for Econ (riiiiiiight).

T-minus Monday

Tomorrow's the 7th, the day for all finals, study group for Econ. today at 10, after work gonna bust out a Bio final/Quiz/whatever the hell he's callin' it.  Tomorrow I'll be done then it's time to figure out the future.  But for now, it's Monday.

Feelin like stern

So if your wondering where the hot chick with no head is that used to grace the Mugblog banner went, you can blame Jenn.  She's been complaining about it for months claiming that it objectifies women, especially since it didn't show her face.   Even though she claims to understand that it was artistic expression, she was still relentless in her pursuit to have me remove the bod' from the banner.  Ok, so she finally won, but it was time for a change anyway.  Don't fear though dear readers, if I can get the Typepad interface to cooperate there's gonna be somethin' on here thats really gonna flip her trigger.

Yeah, so I bought a car. It's a '95 Mazda Miata M Edition, and it's purple, well technically mica merlot, with a tan top.  Influenced by crazy-ass gas prices and little hope they would drop significantly any time soon, and the fact that I drive a 5.9 litre V8 Dodge Ram, I began the search for something small, Japanese, and a MPG that was a little more economically friendly.  Mind you that I didn't ditch my truck, it's paid for so I'm keepin' it for non Miata friendly weather, landscaping and trips to the mountains.  The Miata will be the daily school commuter, DC runner, and run around car.

I never really thought about a Miata with its lack of space, small stature, and the fact that it's a convertible which I never thought I would really be into.  But since I've had it it has certainly grown on me.  It's fun to drive, takes turns like a mofo, and certainly is easy on the gas.  Thing is I really haven't been able to drive it that much.  First off the guy I bought it from, and well, me either, didn't realize that he had to give me the lein release before I could register the car in VA.  The fact that he lives three hours away from me and went out of town right after I got it delayed the registration of the car until just the other day, three weeks after purchase.  Then, since I do live in VA, we are subject to a state safety inspection which checks all crucial parts of your car for proper performance, e.g. lights, brakes, tires, windshield wipers.  I have a center brakelight out which I have to find a new lens for and then the biggy.  Just yesterday as I was doin an illegal run up to the cul de sac to keep the fluids in cycle the smell of burning oil caught my nose and as I pulled in the drive smoke came out form under the hood.  Yeah, FRIGGIN' GREAT!!  So I have yet to dig in and see where the smoke is comin from.  Hopefully it's something simple like a valve cover gasket, or maybe a bit more complicated like a head gasket.  But God help me if it's a cracked head.  If you know anything about cars you know what I mean, if you don't, just know that it's BAD.  Other than the oil and smoke issue the car seems sound.  I any attempt to get it to my Dad's garage this weekend and we can really dig in and see what I'm dealin' with.  I'm really ready to start drivin'  this thing.

By the way, if anyone knows how to remove BBS wheel center caps easily, before I pry them off with a screwdriver and mess up the wheel finish, hook a brotha up.

UPDATE: SO, I got the center caps off but I theres a friggin' anti-theft lug nut that I don't have a key for.  SO,  I have to get one.  I'll be zoom-zoomin' eventually.

I recently had the revelation that in the 3 years that I've been in VA I've never seriously looked into disc golf courses in the area.  So I did, and what do you know, there are two not too far from here.  I started playing in Louisville with some buddies of mine, got into it, bought a few discs, played fairly regularly and then when I came to VA pretty much dropped the game.  I really dunno why. but I'm gonna start again.  I still have a driver, mid-range, and a putter down in the basement so why not. And yes, in case you aren't familiar with the game,  in disc golf there ARE different discs for that are applicable for various shots.  The really good guys carry bags full.  That's not me though, I have three.  I like to think that it more finely tunes your skills (uh, yeah).  Yes you're right, disc golf does carry with it the stigma of a hippie game, with tie dyed, teva wearing dreadies wondering stoned around the woods throwing Frisbees into baskets, but that's not really what it's all about.  You don't even have to wear tie dye or Tevas, but you do have to be able to control a disc and negotiate trees, hills, ponds and the occasional person rummaging thought the brush for his long distance straight driver.  The pot is optional.
